This movie was terrible. It's an anarchist manifesto about the evils of government and NOT at all a fun action movie with super heros and admirable characters. Set in the not too distant dark future in which the USA has plunged most of the world into chaos after causing numerous wars.England becomes the last bastion of civilization and the USA is plunged into a civil war. A civil war we deserved.V is not likeable and his vision of destroying the buildings of government to make a statement and free humanity from the chains of opression is just plain silly. The heroin was likeable and the only enjoyable part of this 2 1/2 hour disaster that drowned out all hope of entertainment with its naive and pubescent political garbage. If you hate america and want to feel good about your hatred this movie is for you.

Great movie! It's great that the director kept V's identity a secret.A sad ending, but with a blast.

A government who would kill thousands of its own citizens for the purpose of creating fear and gaining total power. Who comes up with these ideas?!?!

A top-notch action flick. Fans of sci-fi / fantasy will not be disappointed. Best line of the movie - "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." Also, listen for the voice of Agent Smith from The Matrix (Hugo Weaving).

The idea behind it was good, but the movie itself was not that great.

An excellent movie for its genre. Stylishly shot, sumptous sets, excellent production values and great dirtection. Acting is powerfull and believable in an quiet, understated way. Themes are disturbing and compelling. Destined for cult status. It's all good. Gave it fifth star for effort. Run, don't walk to rent or own.

This movie is excellent. A satire worthy of Jonathan Swift or George Orwell, the literary truth walks in the shadows between dark and light. Its presentation is at once both disturbing and inspiring."V" is about ideas, about the notion that people create government and not the other way around, about the philosophical viewpoint that ideas cannot die. As an American, I was confronted with our entire history, from the Boston Tea Party to the War on Terrorism -- and struck yet again by all the parallels and paradoxes those images create. We must protect ourselves, yet we must be vigilant over those who would protect us.This movie leaves you thinking while it fills you with inspiration and hope. My old college English literature professor would be proud. Swift and Orwell would be proud. A resounding 5 stars!

Very witty and visually quite stunning.Weaving's character draws you to him despite never seeing his face.
