Wretched. I'm forgiving of films, but I'm not sure if the people who are saying they enjoyed it are watching the same film I did. Were talking about SUPERMAN RETURNS right? Which is absolutely predictable, slow and boring. I LOVE kevin Spacey. What a tragedy to have such a great actor in such an average film. The film lacks soul. Its lifeless. The first Superman with Christopher Reeves SOoooo blows this film away, its beyond belief. THAT film was before CG and big production money. The first action scene is a Plane crashing into a stadium. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of a stadium!! The odds of that are a billion to one. LAME WRITING. I can just see the writer in his underwear with crumbs dangling from his chin.."ah lets see here....I need a bunch of people OOOO'ing and AAAAAh'ing over Superman...GOSH GOLLY... I know!! I'll have a plane crash right inside a good ole fashioned American Apple pie wholesome baseball game!!! YIPPIE" I wanted to do a John Belushi to my TV. Lets hold movie makers accountable for this stuff. SAY NO!!!

This movie was much better than i expected, concidering the many bad reviews i've read about this movie. though not the best movie i've ever seen, it is still much better than the movie industry's latest rotten eggs. the actor who plays superman in this film actually makes a great superman..though his clark kent could use a bit of work. still his clark kent wasnt bad, but hes deffinately no reeves. i think this installment does the superman series justice..its no better or worse than any other superman movie.

I read the reviews on this movie prior to renting it.The review that tops the list was kind of a downer.I was sure I would not like it but some reviews gave it five stars so I went ahead and rented it.I am very glad that I did. It's not perfect, some acting was a bit stiff but I really enjoyed Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther.I also enjoyed the subtle humor. Those who say that this movie is lame in plot and humor is not willing to suspend their disbelief. This movie was well written and extremely well directed.I would give this movie four and a half stars only because Christopher Reeve was so superb in his ability to transform himself from Clark Kent to Superman with subtle movements of his body and face no one could match it.Kudos to all involved.

What was this movie suppose to be about?Does Bryan Singer even know what the Superman is about?I mean when I saw Batman Begins I thought it was a great re-invention of the series and I thought Superman Returns would be the same. I am glad that Warner Brothers recognized what a huge mistake this movie was and has given Bryan Singer strick instructions as to what the next movie is to be about and not to create the same garbage again.I mean Superman having a kid, come on, lame plot twist. And Superman was suppose to be almost as smart as Batman, but Singer's Superman was as dumb as block of wood.More action for the next film and less of this human touch feely crap that Singer invented.I expected better from the guy who brought us X-Men and the Usual Suspects.Did he write this script in the bathroom?

This was a suprisingly very wellput together movie.Don't let the haters convince you otherwise. It takes a bit of action and suspense well organized to get my thumbs up and it succeded. Though SM is kinda made to look like a stalker a bit and the posters are corny looking everything else in this movie is smooth and rewarding.Looking forward to the next one.Long live infinite sequels!

Old enough to have had in my hands the very first Superman, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and many others. My big brother bought them gave them to me when I was 11. I read them put them in my box(clearly written on top Don't touch my STUFF) in my closet. Grew up joined the Army and Mom cleaned my closet. Thats how bad this and all the other Superman movies have been. When you had a Superman comic book you had a page of Lois and Jimmy maybe two that you could flip by. I want Superman not Lois and the "current big star we can get for cheap". Seeing Kevin Spacey reminded me of how bad it was watching Richard Pryor play a "villian". I keep wondering when will they figure it out. Why do you think "Lois & Clark" got canned so fast. Smallville was on the way out to then whomever figured it out and started pushing the chicks out of the way may have saved it for another season. Come on I want to see Superman not the guy who has to be told by Lois "The bad guys are getting away". Need a villian? Quick; who plays Michael Myers?, Is it the same guy in the Hockey mask in 7, 9 and 10 of Jason? I don't know and don't care, but any one of them was more entertaining. No more Lois and No more "star" villians who can't act. I can't take the pain and disapointment

For the Superman fan, this movie is a long awaited one.Excellent work by Singer to recreate the man of steel. It only falls short of some expectations as the action and superhero scenes were not as abundant.Nevertheless, it brings back many memories and excitement. The new viewer will become acquainted with the Man of Steel.Take this movie as an introduction to the Man of Steel. The sequel, which is planned in 2008 will fullfill everything you missed out of this movie and more!

Despite Brandon Routh's bland approach and Kate Bosworth poor casting as Lois Lane, this movie is still as entertaining as many of the Christopher Reeve versions. Maybe I am just a fan of the man of steel, but there was enough action and witt to cary the story. Brian Singer stays true to the first movie, while still having the nerve to take some chances other Superman directors might have stayed away from. While I may not agree with all those choices, it did add a level of complexity that kept me interested in what might just have been another comic book movie.
