Biography - Pocahontas: Ambassador of TNW

The tale of princess Pocahontas--the beautiful young Indian princess who risked her own life to save that of the handsome and dashing English explorer, Captain John Smith. But there was so much more to the life of this important Native American. One of the most influential leaders of her tribe, her statesman-like efforts single-handedly saved the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia. She had a vision of peaceful cooperation with the European settlers that was far ahead of its time, and even traveled to England on an important diplomatic mission. Pocahontas' relationship with John Smith was poignant and tragic. She saved his life only soon to be misled that he in fact had been killed. When she discovered the truth years later it was too late...Pocahontas had already married another man. Pocahontas left a legacy of courage and inspiration that went well beyond her years when she died of tuberculosis at the age of 23.
