No Country For Old Men

Well, I read the reviews... and against the warning of some, I spent the $ and hoped for good.... Well... now I wish I had headed the warning, This was a terrible movie, someone made the comment that it was an example of good guys winning... They must have beenn watching another movie, this one is terrible. The acting was not bad, just the story.

Absolutely stunning film. Stark, existentialist, perfect in every detail.

well, mccarthy (now 75) has to be just about one of the best and most despairing writers i've missed in my life (try the road), until now...brolin could have been played by a lot of guys who aren't him...tommy lee plays a counterpointing sheriff he's already played to death, but that's ok...bardem is a knockout as the personification of unstoppable malice (with one of the worst haircuts ever invented, even in texas)...i think the coens got hold of a great book for a movie...easy to work with, but they never took that for granted...the theme seems to be cormac's one and only...good can skirmish with evil, but no decisive victories are possible (did i mention he's despairing?).

How can anyone write a review of No Country for Old Men without mentioning Javier Bardem? His performance alone makes it worth the purchase! Please try to forget who made this movie, and everything you know of them. Ignore the possible reasons for them having made this film at all, and forget the finances and politics of modern film. Just enjoy the best bad guy in recent memory. With that said, the film does have a few other merits, and I found it highly enjoyable.I admit that it has some problems, though.Did Tommy Lee Jones really need to be in this one? No. That's one of the parts we should try to forget. He did a passable job of playing pretty much the same character he's played in most of his recent films.I guess we just like him and want to see him, so we shouldn't mind his appearance here, even though it may have been a nearly empty, token role, cast as a box office draw. Just dig the genius of the bad guy in this one, and you'll end up loving it.

should have been listed the worse of the worse.they could not made a worse movie if they tried, if they had lowered their budget, used lesser actors.now i know the truth about yjr oscars, its a potiltically motivated group full of bullshit rather than substance, i wish i could get my money back.never has it felt so good to hit the delete button on my computer.do NOT see this.

I have to agree 100% with gabe137.I was really, really disappointed with this movie. It could have been a good movie. I expected so much more. All the best good parts were in the trailers.This movie was a waste of my time.I can't believe this movie won 3 oscars!?!The movie 3:10 to Yuma was so much better and deserved the Oscars instead of this waste of a movie.This movide really deserved no stars

I am a huge cohen bros. fan, which lead me to watch a movie about a psychopath. In general I am pretty tired of movies about psycho-killers, as I feel like this has been done, and done well, however...Javier's performance in this is an absolute must-see. The cinematography is incredible as well, stark and beautiful at the same time. I haven't read the book, but friends of mine who are fans say that this is a close adaptation that keeps the spirit, which is usually an impossible task for any filmmaker.
