Synopsis:
PLANET OF THE APES depicts an upside-down world - a brutal, primal place where apes are in charge and humans scavenge for subsistence, hunted and enslaved by the tyrannical primates. The sudden appearance of one man, a pilot who has crash landed on this strange planet, alien to the present order and unaffected by its oppression, serves as a challenge to the status quo and a catalyst for revolutionary social change. Shortly after crashing on the planet, Captain Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) finds himself running for his life along with dozens of other human beings, tracked down by fearsome apes on horseback, led by the captain of the ape army, Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan), a magnificent silverback who is dedicated to his spiritual leader, Thade (Tim Roth). This, the premise of Pierre Boulle's classic novel Planet of the Apes, has become one of the most recognized and provocative concepts in the canon of science fiction literature and cinema. Visionary filmmaker Tim Burton has uniquely envisioned a journey to an incredible upside-down world.
