Brighty is an intrepid little burro, running wild and free, until he meets a friend in Old Timer - a lonely gold prospector. Just when their search for riches in the Grand Canyon is successful, an escaping horse thief ambushes the old man, atempting to use Brighty to haul stolen gold out of the canyon. Wise little Brighty escapes - enlisting the help of Uncle Jim and his 10- year-old nephew Homer - and the adventure begins!
