When a 2,000-year-old curse is broken, a ruthless dragon emperor (Li) comes back to life with a diabolical plan to enslave the world. Mankind’s only hope against him and his legions of undead warriors lies with the courageous O’Connell family, who chase him from the dangerous catacombs of China, to the icy Himalayas and beyond. Featuring intense battle sequences, breathtaking visual effects and extraordinary creatures, it’s a thrilling journey that Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times calls “the best in the series!”

CRITIC REVIEWS
LEW IRWIN
The latest edition in the Mummy franchise is getting an almost universally bum wrap from critics. Tomb of the Dragon Emperor directed by Rob Cohen drew these descriptions: Stephen Holden, The New York Times: a "frantic, cluttered mess of cheesy computer-generated action-adventure cliché,s," Kyle Smith, the New York Post: "Nonsensical," Kenneth Turan, the Los Angeles Times: "Can''t shake its pro forma feeling," Ty Burr, the Boston Globe: "a threadbare toss-off," Jennie Punter, Toronto Globe and Mail: "An afterthought, not a sequel," Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer: "Should have been kept under wraps," Michael Sragow, Baltimore Sun: "extravagant and frenetic," Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune: "Bleh." But at the end of his review, Roger Ebert, who gives the film three stars, writes, "Now why did I like this movie? It was just plain dumb fun, is why. It is absurd and preposterous, and proud of it."

preceding review is correct: in the event that your pc should be incinerated, pulverized, or seized by aliens(or that you should be blinded)cinema now is not going to help out....re. the mummy, Nothing New is attempted in this....if you've seen i, ii...or, or.....(how many of these things have there been anyway?)you've seen them all...direction is visibly bad at points; every time comical sidekick pops his eyes, they look like they've already been popped in precisely that way for at least 5 takes....worst one so far....the thrill is g o n e.
