Synopsis:
Oh Dae-su is an ordinary Seoul businessman with a wife and little daughter who, after a drunken night on the town, is locked up in a strange, private prison for 15 years. No one will tell him why hes there and who his jailer is, but he is kept in reasonably comfortable quarters and has a TV to keep him company. Watching TV though, he discovers he has been framed for his wifes murder and realizes that, during one of the occasions in which hes knocked out by gas, someone has drawn blood from him and left it at the scene of the crime. The imprisonment last for 15 years until one day when Dae-su finds himself unexpectedly deposited on a grass-covered high-rise roof. Hes determined to discover the mysterious enemy who had him locked up. While hes eating in a Japanese restaurant, his cell phone rings and a voice dares him to figure out why he was imprisoned.

Truely one of the best movies I've seen. It's part of the Vengence trilogy ("No Sympanthy for Mr Vengence" and "Lady Vengence"), and rightfully so. From the great soundtrack to the suspense and anger, I loved it. Watching the long hallway fight (long shot done in one take) was great, but you'll never forget the resturant scene when he finally gets to eat something other than dumplings. The ending was simply amazing, shocking and leaving you with a WTF! in your mind. I watched this once and bought it afterwards. I've seen this several times and everyone I've talked to about it loved it.
However, now they're going to screw it all up with a remake.

The plot sounded intriging ... but the acting was awful.... the whole thing was basically awful.....

dubbed, and with yet another gutteral sin city narrative....chinese seem to have borrowed our secret privatized prison idea, also....can't they imagine amything for themselves?....very bad as noir, but at times very good as drama....seriously needed editing and a fight choreographer....nice ending but not worth the wait....ciao.

Wow....talk about a surprise ending, with a twist. I never saw it coming. Nevertheless, it is a foreign film, with spoken words in English. The synopsis is what drew me to want to watch this movie. At first,I was bored with the beginning, and wondered why I was watching it, but became more interested as the movie progressed. It is definitely not for kids, with No Rating. If you like revenge movies...this is the one.
