Synopsis:

Nancy Drew, the girl detective who has been solving crimes for 75 years, is aimed at their female tweens and older reviewers can only imagine how the target audience will react. Writes Bill Zwecker in the Chicago Sun-Times: "I'm sure 'tween girls will enjoy Nancy Drew on some level, but over all, it feels lame. A disappointing revival of a classic character." Many simply find it dull -- something that can instantly be inferred from Los Angeles Daily News critic Glenn Whipp's remarks: "The threadbare, uninteresting plot could be overlooked were it not for the lifelessness surrounding it." A.O. Scott in the New York Times remarks that in their effort to update the Nancy Drew mysteries, the moviemakers sacrifice "the sturdy mechanics of a decent thriller in order to pursue tired jokes and second-hand atmospherics." And Liam Lacey in the Toronto Globe & Mail concludes that the teen sleuth "definitely deserves better than the new movie which bears her name."
