This movie strays far from the actual Plainfield murders. The acting and directing is atrocious and Hodder is too big and too intimidating for Ed Gein, who was timid and had a feminine side, obviously. Plus, what's the deal with Hodder's neck? He almost looks like a burn victim and I don't recall Ed having skin like that.I also don't recall Ed using a needle to sedate his victims. This version of the true story appears to have plenty of fiction added to it.To know what really happened in Plainfield, I recommend the other Ed Gein movie with Steve Railsback as the famous ghoul.
