Synopsis:
Ralph Macchio stars as Daniel, a teenager whose growing pains are made that much more difficult by his arrival in a new town where he must start from scratch and make new friends. He quickly becomes the target of the Cobras, a menacing gang of karate students, who are less than pleased when he strikes up a relationship with Ali (ELISABETH SHUE), the Cobra leader's ex-girlfriend. Eager to fight back and impress his new girlfriend, he begs his handyman, Miyagi (PAT MORITA), a martial arts master, to teach him karate. Under Miyagi's wise tutelage, Daniel develops not only the physical skills but also the maturity, faith and self-confidence to compete despite tremendous odds as he encounters the fight of his life in the exciting finale.

That's hilarious seeing this rated as anything under a 4. This movie is now essentially too dated. Its kind of a coming of age movie so great for teens. Only how many teens are gonna want to go rent this with their dad? not cool! That said this movie came on in the gym the other day and I saw people from 4 generations spell bound hanging around the TV to see the end, although I knew ALL of us had seen it before. It's just a classic and a great movie. GET HIM A BODY BAG. SWEEP THE LEG. Ralph Macchio is dorky like most of us were at that age. This movie has seen its time probably, but it is a great movie.

This mvoie truly doesn't deserve 1 star. Pat Morita was a great actor and looked up to him as if he were my grandfather. With all his wisdom and charisma he put into his role. And all the great music from the eighties this movie is a well deserved 4 stars. It could've been a 5 star. However I didn't like Ralp Macchio. He just got on my nerves and portrayed himself like such a DORK..Jet Li,and or Brandon Lee would've made it better...
