Synopsis:
Several of the music industry's most illustrious artists united at London's Royal Albert Hall in December 2004, for a unique concert to raise funds for the victims of the conflict in Darfur, Sudan. Produced by the United Nations Refugee Agency and filmed by Initial (part of Endemol UK), the event highlighted what has become one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. A variety of acts, including lead singer of the Pretenders Chrissie Hynde, Simply Red front man Mick Hucknall, disco-diva Jocelyn Brown, soprano Barbara Hendricks and Broadway stage actress Ruthie Henshall, performed an extravaganza of music from Cole Porter, backed by the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Directed by David Barnard, the event also included an appearance by Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) giving his first live performance in 25 years.
