Synopsis:
In the Black Hills of South Dakota, the sculptor Gutzon Borglum created the world's most gigantic piece of sculpture by carving the faces of four American presidents into a granite cliff. Each face is about 60 feet high and some 450,000 tons of rock had to be removed by explosives, pneumatic drills and chisels to create the group. With noses 20 feet long, mouths 18 feet wide and eyes 11 feet across, the group depicts Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. It took 15 years to complete--1927-41.
