As the masked men pull Kim into their van, Victor Drazen, in the SUV, tells Jack to prove that Alexis is still alive. Jack calls Nina, and asks her to call the hospital and get Alexis on the line. She sets up the connection, and when Victor hears Alexis' voice, he promises they'll be together soon. Victor also demands that the CTU trade Alexis for Jack, but Mason, who's also on the line, says he doesn't have the authority to make the trade. Victor tells him to get the authority and says he'll call back in 15 minutes.Meanwhile, at the hotel, while Palmer speaks to a crowd of his cheering supporters, Sherry tells Patty that she won't be accompanying Palmer to Dallas the next day, and that she and Palmer need a few days apart. At the CTU, Mason tells Nina they won't be pursuing the trade with Victor Drazen, even when Nina points out that it would help them locate and capture Victor. After learning that Mason intends to let Jack die, Nina tells Teri that Jack has been captured and that the government isn't going to help him. A bit later, Victor and Andre pull Jack into a Slavic restaurant where they're greeted by the owner, Salah, an old friend of Victor's. Salah introduces his daughter, Lita, and shows them some communications equipment he has readied for Victor. Meanwhile, as Mason argues with his superiors about letting Jack die, Teri plead again for Mason's help, but he says there's nothing he more he can do. When Teri returns to Nina's area, however, Nina says there is someone who may be able to help after all. Nina calls Palmer, tells him that Victor is alive and has captured Jack, and that the government has refused to trade Jack for Alexis...and Palmer promises to make some calls and get back to her. Meanwhile, another CTU staffer tells Tony that the police car Kim was riding in was hit and that Kim was taken again; a few moments later, he breaks this news to Nina. A few minutes later, Palmer calls Mason and tells him to go through with the trade. Mason says Palmer doesn't have the authority to authorize it, but Palmer promises that after he's elected president, he'll reward Mason with a major promotion.At the restaurant, Jack watches Lita serve food to Victor, and gets an idea. He asks Lita for a glass of water, and when she brings it, he grabs her and holds a knife to her neck, ordering Victor's men to drop their guns. The guards drop the weapons, but then Victor shoots Lita in the head, ending Jack's gambit. Then Victor calls Mason back, asking for his decision on the trade. When Mason says he'll do it, Victor gives him an address, says a green SUV will be waiting to pick up Alexis, and that Jack will be returned after the trade. Back at the hotel, Sherry scolds Palmer for not paying more attention to his supporters and the victory celebration, accusing him of "weakness" which could cost them the election. After Sherry returns to the party, Palmer compliments Patty's dress, then arranges to meet her upstairs in five minutes to go over a brief.Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Salah mourns Lita, but Victor says he simply did what had to be done. Finally, two thugs enter with Kimberly. Andre and Victor quickly shut the door to the back room, but Kimberly still gets a glimpse of her father. Back at the CTU, Teri is relieved when Nina tells her they're going to make the trade after all, but then Teri asks about Kim, and Nina can't bring herself to tell Teri that Kim has been recaptured. At the restaurant, Jack begs Victor and Andre to let him see Kim, but they ignore him. At the hospital, Mason negotiates Alexis' release, event though Alexis is still extremely weak after his surgery.At the hotel, Palmer and Patty go over the brief she's preparing about Keith's problems, and Palmer offers her a glass of wine. As they drink, she asks him about his relationship with Sherry. He senses she's flirting and excuses himself, but there are definitely sparks between them. A bit later, Victor and Andre drop Jack off at a platform in an oil field and hand him a cell phone, saying they'll call after they've got Alexis back. Then they leave Jack, being watched at a distance by a sniper, saying that if they get Alexis, Jack will go free; if they don't, Jack will die. Palmer and Patty return to the victory party, where Sherry pulls Patty aside. Patty says she did what Sherry asked, but says she's not sure where it's leading. Sherry tells her they're doing it for Palmer's sake, and asks Patty to continue with their plan, saying they'll deal with the consequences later.About the same time, Mason delivers Alexis to the rendezvous location, an auto body shop, where Victor's assistant, Harris, picks him up. As Harris calls Andre to warn him Alexis is hurt, Mason demands that Harris tell him where Jack is, and Harris finally reveals that they also have Kim now. Mason asks if Kim will be returned with Jack, but Harris says the deal was only for Jack. Finally, Mason lets Harris and Alexis go, and as the SUV pulls out of the body shop, Nina radios Mason to say they're tracking the vehicle. A few moments later, however, in the SUV, Harris waves a signal detector over Alexis, finds the tracker Nina hid in his hospital bracelet, and throws it out into the street. Back at the restaurant, Victor calls the sniper and tells him to release Jack, then pushes Kim out the door. A moment later, the sniper fires at Jack, shooting off his wrist restraint. Then, as Jack undoes his other bindings, Victor calls Jack to say that if Jack wants to see Kim again, he'll get into a nearby parked car and head toward Century City.
