ridley's classic original does more with less, but i think the quality of the series tops out with this sequel.

Greatest Sci-Fi movie ever. Sigourey, Paxton, Henrikson, Beihn all play great characters in this movie but my favorite character is Vazquez...baddest female to ever grace celluloid.

Certainly one of the top three science fiction movies ever made. The consummate hero, Ripley, shines in this sequel to Ridley Scott's masterpiece Alien. The cocky colonial marines quickly realize that perhaps they should've taken Ripley's hesitations and fears seriously. And just as quickly, Ripley is forced to take the lead when military leadership fails. It's one of the subtexts that Cameron weaves throughout the film so well. When textbook plans and procedures go awry, it's Lt. Ripley (a civilian officer) who takes action, demonstrating an instinct that military training cannot provide. This instinct emerges full force in a final and dramatic crescendo. What's really great about this movie is that the roles all fit so well. Nothing is forced, transitions in character flow smoothly, the acting is convincing from start to finish, and the action and suspense is unmatched even today. One of my favorite characters is Hudson, played by Bill Paxton. He has the best and most memorable lines in the movie. In short, Aliens is a classic that paved the way for so many subsequent science fiction thrillers.
