The film documents the early era of submarine-launched missiles in the U.S. Navy. Tracing the missile programs history from its beginning with Project Derby, an effort to launch German V-1 buzz bombs from the deck of submarine USS Cusk in 1946, then over the years through the design, construction and flight tests of the nuclear-armed Regulus Missile, and its subsequent deployment aboard five fleet submarines, and its replacement by the Polaris missile submarine program
