She had a vision of peaceful cooperation with the European settlers that was far ahead of its time, and even traveled to England on an important diplomatic mission. Pocahontas' relationship with John Smith was poignant and tragic. She saved his life only soon to be misled that he in fact had been killed. When she discovered the truth years later it was too late...Pocahontas had already married another man. Pocahontas left a legacy of courage and inspiration that went well beyond her years when she died of tuberculosis at the age of 23.
