Synopsis:
Extremes of nature and mysteries abound in the desert of America's most populous state, California. Among desolate ranges dubbed the Funeral Mountains, the Black Mountains and Furnace Creek lies Death Valley, the world's hottest place. It's a 150-mile-wide frying pan where the ground itself can reach the boiling point. In the nearby Joshua Tree National Monument, forests of grotesque trees struggle for life under daytime heat that can reach 125 degrees. The environment may have a strange effect on its few inhabitants. A huge granite boulder named Giant Rock is one of the true birthplaces of the UFO movement.
