In this provocative and brutal thriller from director Michael Haneke, a vacationing family gets an unexpected visit from two deeply disturbed young men. Cherish every moment of life, because you never know when a simple outing will lead to an encounter with pure evil. I recommend this movie to people who enjoy watching stories and characters develop (specialty shoppers). It might not appeal to people who can only relate to boom-bang-scary mask-scream-white knight-happy-happy-happy off into the sunset (big box shoppers); may be too ???boring/slow??? for them; too bad, for them, because this film was very good. I say, it was Chilling, after the fact.The story was easy to follow. The dialogue was smart. The cast was perfect. I had never heard of the film, and only chose it because Tim Roth and Naomi Watts were in it. The acting was great. Naomi was AWESOME. I was surprised, and pleased to see her really getting down, and dirty, in such a physically and emotionally demanding role. Kudos, to the film???s creators, for not following the same old script, and for not playing it safe; in the real world, a fact of life is that worst case scenarios sometimes rear their ugly heads.
