have read bill gibson's books and stories (all of them), and they are visually, sensually, quite lurid...but they are also quite introverted, which tends to make adaptations slippery...try the stories instead...i don't recall that mnemonic gets "hurt by love" in this, but it hurt me to watch.

This is the first movie addaptation of author William Gibson's (Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Count Zero Interrupt) books.Truthfully, this is an addaptation of a short story of the same title.Gibson is considered to be the father of the "Cyberpunk" Genre, and unfortunately, the director and producers did not share William Gibson's deft handling of the "near future".The movie is cliche and simplistic of a very complex future world, and although it misses the mark (later hit by The Matrix) it is still a very entertaining movie. Made more entertaining if you have read Gibson's work and can appreciate the recurance of several characters introduced in "Mnemonic".
