Synopsis:
Driving away from the shooters, Jack presses the dead man's thumb to his mobile scanner. Just then, Teri calls to say she talked to Kim, who said she and Janet are at a party. Teri still feels something's amiss, so Jack asks her and Alan York to remain at the furniture store until the girls return. At the desert house, Gaines is furious that Bridgit is trying to extort more money from him, and refuses to pay until she produces Belkins' ID. Gaines calls Dan, who has parked his van at the airport, and says there will be a slight delay. After the call, Dan returns to the van, where Janet, her arm broken, moans in pain. Dan refuses Kim's pleas to help Janet, so Rick pulls out a dope kit and starts cooking heroin to ease Janet's pain.Back at the Palmers' hotel, Keith wants to go look for his father, but the secret service agent, Pierce, holds him back. Meanwhile, Palmer pulls into an underground garage, where a trio of teenage thugs smash his car window. Jack arrives at the CTU and asks Nina to print out the downed plane's passenger list and leave it on his desk. As she leaves, Jack tells Jamey about Walsh's death, and gives her the key card Walsh gave him, saying he needs it decrypted by six a.m. Jack goes to his office and takes the passenger list from Nina, asking if she thinks someone at the Agency could be behind the hit on Palmer. She asks if he has any leads, but he doesn't say. Nina starts to leave, but then Jack sees Jamey working at Nina's desk (trying to verify that the key card was encoded on her computer), so he stalls Nina by asking if she and Tony are back together. Nina dodges the question, and then Jamey calls to say the card was definitely coded on Nina's computer. Then a technician calls Jack to say there's no record of the dead man's thumbprint, which means he either doesn't exist, or has “friends in very high places.”At the airport Janet finally wakes up, and when Dan and Rick look away, Kim and Janet bolt from the van. Back at the CTU, Jamey asks Jack if they should shut down Nina's confidential access, asking pointedly if Jack dated Nina. Jack admits he did, when he was separated from Teri, and tells Jamey to shut down Nina's access status. Meanwhile, Kim and Janet run into a side street, where they interrupt a male prostitute and his john. The john flees, but when Dan and Rick arrive, the prostitute, Larry Rogow, tells Dan that the girls ran the other way. When Dan leaves, however, Rogow takes cash from Kim and the pendant from Janet's necklace as payment for his favor, and then runs into a nearby warehouse. Kim and Janet see Dan nearby, so they follow Rogow.At the desert house, Mandy tries to convince Bridgit to produce the ID card, but after a few well-placed kisses, Bridget convinces Mandy to hold out for more money. Meanwhile, Palmer meets Carl in the garage, and says Maureen Kinglsey told him the boy who raped Nicole didn't commit suicide, but was pushed out a window by Keith, who will be accused of murder. Carl promises to take care of it, and as he walks away several secret service cars screech in and surround Palmer. In the warehouse, Kim and Janet find Rogow again and beg for his help, but he refuses. Back at the CTU, Jack corners Nina and asks her about the key card. She denies any knowledge of it, but can't explain how someone else might have used her computer to produce it. Back at the desert house, Gaines finally pays Mandy and Bridgit and suggests the three of them go to get Belkins' ID. At the warehouse, Dan arrives and Kim and Janet flee again. Outside, they beg a pimp, Rocco, for his cell phone, and when Rocco grabs Kim, Rogow knocks him down and the girls flee with Rocco's phone.Kim calls Teri and begs her to come for them right away. Teri calls 911, but as she and York start to leave, the store owner arrives, demanding to know why Teri and York are in his store. Meanwhile, Kim crosses a street, then turns back just in time to see a car smash into Janet and screech away. Kim runs to Janet, but then Rick grabs Kim. Back at the CTU, Tony learns Walsh has been killed and asks Jamey to open a socket on his computer so he can find out what happened. Out on a desert road, Bridgit leads Gaines and Mandy to the buried ID card, and as soon Gaines has it, Jonathan, the Belkin lookalike, shoots Bridgit in the head. Jonathan next aimes at Mandy, but Gaines tells him to stop, and walks Mandy back to the car. A few minutes later, at the CTU, Jack and Nina watch as Jamey calls up data that shows the key card was coded on Nina's computer during a weekend when Jack and Nina were away together. Jack says he's glad to learn Nina didn't double-cross him, but Nina is furious that he ever considered the possibility. As she leaves, Tony watches... and then makes a phone call, telling the person on the other end of the line that Jack needs to be relieved of his command. Finally, as Teri and York rush to find their daughters, Dan and Rick lead Kim away and Palmer returns to his hotel. We see Janet's eyes open, revealing that she's still alive.
