Based on the classic novel by Susan M. Coolidge, What Katy Did tells the story of Katy Carr (Alison Pill), a headstrong and energetic thirteen year-old, growing up in the countryside at the turn of the century. With a feisty, rebellious streak, Katy is a real handful for her widowed father, Dr. Carr (Kevin Whately), and her stern Aunt Izzie (Martha Burns) who share the responsibility of raising Katy and her siblings.The arrival of her worldly, invalid cousin Helen (Megan Follows), exposes Katy to a world she never knew existed. When tragedy befalls Katy, she gains strength from her Cousin Helen's wisdom and appetite for life, and overcomes her own misfortune.
