Synopsis:
At the port, Kim crawls out of the water, eludes Drazen's men and jumps into a passing garbage truck to get away. At Palmer's hotel, he continues to hide from the press, but Sherry pressures him to end the charade and tell the public he wasn't killed in the bomb blast. Palmer insists he owes Jack the favor, so Sherry walks out. A bit later, the CTU gets a call from a CHP officer who has found Kim. Mason tells the officer to bring Kim back to the CTU, and orders Nina to send CTU troops to the harbor.Meanwhile, Jack arrives at the harbor and sees the Drazens (but no sign of Kim) from a distance. Jack calls Andre and asks him to put Kim on the phone, but Andre refuses. Andre says he knows Palmer's still alive, and tells Jack to get there in five minutes or Kim will be killed. Sensing Andre's bluff, however, Jack says he's not coming until he hears from Kim, and then hangs up. Jack calls Nina and tells her that since Andre knows Palmer is still alive, someone at CTU must be leaking information. Nina says the only other people who knew about Palmer were Mason, Chappelle, and Tony, and Jack asks her to investigate them. Then he goes back to watching Drazen's men, who are waiting by several vans near a dockside warehouse.At the hotel, Palmer is surprised by a TV news report announcing that he's still alive... and realizes Sherry must have leaked the news. He confronts her, but since the word is out, Novick advises him to make a public statement as soon as possible. At the CTU, Nina calls Andre to warn him about the CTU teams Mason sent, and to tell him Kim has been rescued. Still wanting to draw Jack into a confrontation, Victor tells Nina to tell Jack that Kim is dead; a few minutes later, she calls Jack and to say the Coast Guard just found Kim's body. As Victor predicted, Jack loads his gun, and a few minutes later, he drives a van right through the wall of the warehouse where Victor and Andre are waiting. Jack jumps clear of the vehicle, which kills several henchmen, and then he shoots several others. Finally, only Victor and Andre remain, and when Jack stops to reload, they run outside to a speedboat. Jack chases after them, shooting, and kills Andre. Victor jumps into the speedboat, Jack yells at him to stop, and when Victor doesn't, Jack shoots and kills him, too.A few minutes later, at the CTU, Mason tells Tony and Teri that Jack is alive and the Drazens are dead. Teri's thrilled and goes to look for Nina. At the port, Jack tells a Coast Guard sailor that he's the father of the dead girl they found, but the sailor has no idea what Jack is talking about. At the CTU, Nina speaks in German on the phone to a man named Gregor, and begs him to get her out of the CTU. He says he'll work on it and asks her to upload some data from the CTU computers. Just then, Teri comes in and Nina gets off the phone. Teri tells Nina how grateful she is for all her help, but also says that because of Nina's lingering feelings for Jack, she's going to ask Jack to have Nina transferred to another office. Just then, Gregor calls back and tells Nina she'll be picked up in a few minutes at a rendezvous point. Teri starts to realize something's wrong, then notices the files Nina's transferring. Teri asks what Nina's doing, and when Nina says it's “classified,” Teri offers to leave. She turns to the door, but then Nina pushes her away and locks it. Teri screams, the but room is soundproof. Nina pushes her into a chair.Back at the hotel, Palmer gives a quick statement to the press, and Novick tells Sherry that Palmer wants a private word with her on the roof in five minutes. Back at the harbor, the Coast Guard sailor checks with his superiors, who confirm no bodies were found that day, and Jack realizes Nina lied to him. Jack jumps into a car, and as he races away, calls Mason and tells him to arrest Nina. Mason says he can't without firmer evidence, so Jack hangs up, calls a man named Wilson in the CTU archives, and asks him to pull the security camera video from the room where Jamey died earlier. Wilson checks and learns the tape has been erased, so Jack gives him the security code for a backup copy.Back at the hotel, Palmer meets Sherry on the roof and says he never wants to see her again. She protests, but he says he has ordered the Secret Service to take her back to Washington immediately... and then walks off while the agents restrain her.A few minutes later Wilson uploads the security video to a monitor in Jack's car. As he drives, Jack watches the tape, which shows Nina enter the room where Jamey is being held, knock her out with a taser, smash a coffee cup and then cut Jamey's wrists with the shards. Jack calls Mason back, says he's got the evidence against Nina, then uploads the video to Mason's computer. Mason is shocked when he sees it, but immediately orders a lockdown of the CTU.Just as Nina hears the lockdown go into effect, Gregor calls back to say someone will pick Nina up in 16 minutes. Nina hangs up, tells Teri she's leaving now, and shoots two bullets into Teri's head. Nina shoots her way to the parking garage, but then Jack screeches in. Nina jumps into a car and shoots at Jack, but he returns her fire, then Jack crashes into her car and pulls her out, threatening to shoot her. She warns that if he does, he'll never find out who she's working for (and it's not Drazen). Just then Mason and Tony arrive, and Jack lets them take Nina into custody.A few minutes later, Kim and Jack share a tearful reunion. When Kim asks where Teri is, Jack offers to go look for her. As a TV newscast reports that Jack is the one who saved Palmer's life that day, Jack pokes into several areas of the CTU and finally finds Teri's body hidden in a transformer room. Jack approaches carefully, and when he realizes it's her, he sinks down, crying, cradling her lifeless body.
