Synopsis:
The Orphanage centers on Laura (Belén Rueda) who purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children. Once there, Laura discovers that the new environment awakens her son's imagination, but the ongoing fantasy games he plays with an invisible friend quickly turn into something more disturbing. Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place.

I really didn't need to remind myself that "this is only a movie" as the description says, just the same there were a couple of parts that made me jump or get a chill. The movie is worth the rental but be forewarned this movie is in Spanish and the English subtitles are difficult to read in some of the scenes.

Below the radar, but a great movie. Nothing like the modern horror films which have a blood+gore+sex=horror movie formula. This movie is way better and raises the bar for what a horror movie should be.

Very well written movie, great acting..suspense..mystery..i was clued to the screen from begining to end...definately worth the rental fee.

This is a great and well made movie. Its not for those looking for a slice and dice horror movie. This is a well thought out supernatural mystery with loads of suspense.I found it highly enjoyable

"The Orphanage" begins to make you think "the same old haunted house movie". Forgettaboutit!! "The Orphanage" has a story line, a double, triple twist and an ending, which left this viewer satisfied and not the usual "OK..that was good". "The Orphanage" is the ghost story for the thinking person, not leaving out all you "love scary movies" kids, because I know you think far more deeply than most adults.
