Synopsis:
In the tradition of The Ring comes this frightening psychological thriller. In an attempt to pull her family together, New Yorker Adele (MARIA BELLO) travels with her young daughter Sarah to Wales to visit her father- James (SEAN BEAN). The morning after they arrive, Sarah mysteriously vanishes in the ocean. While they desperately search for Sarah, a guilt-ridden Adele is haunted by visions of her daughter as though Sarah is trapped somewhere inside the house. Adele soon learns of an ancient local legend of a place called The Dark- an ethereal land of the dead- and she becomes convinced that Sarah is communicating to her from The Dark. Not long after Sarah disappears, Adele and James find themselves involved with a little girl who not only bears a striking resemblance to their missing daughter, but reveals that she has retuned from the dead to show them that in order to get Sarah back, they must follow the rule: "one of the living, for one of the dead." Based on the novel "Sheep", by Simon Maginn.

Sean Bean is the ONLY reason to watch this film. The script has a major problem in that it keeps having Maria Bello scream the name of her daughter Sarah - at least 5,000 times in this film. Sean Bean gives a masterful performance and he makes the film worth watching, but as a horror film it isn't really THAT scary.Maria Bello is a good actress and she's wasted in this role - her role just winds up being a very annoying person you want to throttle. The acting in the movie is good, the problem is with the script. However, the scenery and cinematography is quite compelling.

A read the other ratings. Can't you just enjoy the movie and see it as the author intended it to be. I had no problem with any of it and was not confused. That means that these movies are not for you.

Gave me some chills.Interesting though a little far fetched at times.I actually liked the ending. The beginning and ending are the best parts of this movie.Horror fans should like this movie.

As a psychothriller goes, it was all right. It didn't have too many of the "fake scares" that most horror movies have these days, and the concept is sound.I was a bit disappointed by the ending, though. There is very little character development through the movie, and the double-twist at the end is more frustrating than chilling.Otherwise it has good acting and authentically scary material.
