originated as an off broadway play, that, understandably, stayed off broadway...sam beckett was the real deal, but letts' surreal exposition of endstage paranoia too often degenerates into small talk and blank hysteria..connick's inclusion in the movie seems to do nothing but interrupt it...i imagine it was (or is) a rather good play, but it tripped over bill friedkin on its way to you and never regained its footing.

This movie reminded me of Roman Polanski's Repulsion. Very intense and grabs you from the start. Don't expect giant bugs except those from your mind, You won't forget this movie, that's for sure. Ashley Judd should get an Oscar for this movie.

William Friedkin, you might, or should remember from "The Exorcist". Do not expect any frights, green spittle or startling "BOO's" to jolt you. What WILL, or should, is this excellent film which puts the viewer, unknowingly, into the character who is "re-programmed" mentally and enters the world of dementia to it's ultimate end! YOU will realise you have been "changed" but luckily, for you, "changed" is realised and you will be stunned, aghast, horrified to see, through Friedkin's work, the ease which this transformation can be forced on you unknowingly. The Best Film of all films delving into the mind of psychotic behaviour and showing all the realities from THE INSIDE!

I have watched many movies in my life.Horror, drama, comedy, whatever. This was one of the most strange yet some how captivating and confusing movies I have ever seen or heard of.I don't even think I could have dreamed up that in a million years. What did I just watch?
