CRITIC REVIEWS
LEW IRWIN

The London Daily Mirror claimed today (Tuesday) that it was publishing the first major newspaper review of the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Night. It's a rave. Critic David Edwards remarks that Heath Ledger is "a dead cert" to win the Oscar for his portrayal of The Joker. Edwards says that the late actor "is the brilliant heart of a superhero movie that's like nothing you've ever seen before. ... the finest superhero movie in years." In the U.S., Time Inc.'s Entertainment Weekly is out with a review by Owen Gleiberman that also extols Ledger's performance. "In this, the last performance he completed before his death, Ledger had a maniacal gusto inspired enough to suggest that he might have lived to be as audacious an actor as Marlon Brando, and maybe as great," he writes. Likewise Richard Corliss in Time magazine calls Ledger's performance "magnificent." His Joker, says Corliss, "is simply one of the most twisted and mesmerizing creeps in movie history." In his review for the Associated Press, Christy Lemire writes that The Dark Night is "an epic that will leave you staggering from the theater, stunned by its scope and complexity." And Peter Travers concludes in Rolling Stone: "The haunting and visionary Dark Knight soars on the wings of untamed imagination."

This was the best batman movie to date. I was so amazed on how the actors had there characters right on the money. Ledger was unreal in his performance. It was such a sad day for what happen to him. I think he hit the joker right on the money it was unreal.

This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen.I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie.Ledger's performance was incredible, he has (had) insanity down to an art form.Bale's dual-identity intensity was amazing. The villains actually acted like villains would act in the real world, unlike in nearly every other superhero movie ever made.Dialogue was fantastic ... I'm running low on adjectives, it was great, watch this movie, you won't be disappointed.

every time bale jumps off an object, in earth gravity, whether it is a rainbarrel or a skyscraper, he is falling at a rate of 32 feet per second, per second....32 feet faster every second.....this was attempted by a french tailor who flung himself off the eiffel tower wearing a set of homemade wings....it is about time someone explained why the same thing doesn't happen to bale that happened to the tailor (spuLAT!!)....i do not think any after death oscar winning experiences are awaiting ledger, but his performance really is one of the best

The Dark Knight is the best of 2008. Heath's performance as Joker second to none, Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne has nailed it again. this movie is completely flawless and deserves every oscar it's nominated for.
