Synopsis:
In the not-too-distant future, some 30 years after the final war, a solitary man walks across the wasteland that was once America. A warrior not by choice but necessity, Eli (Denzel Washington) seeks only peace but, if challenged, will cut his attackers down before they realize their fatal mistake. It's not his life he guards so fiercely but his hope for the future; a hope he has carried and protected for 30 years and is determined to realize. Driven by this commitment and guided by his belief in something greater than himself, Eli does what he must to survive--and continue. Only one other man in this ruined world understands the power Eli holds, and is determined to make it his own: Carnegie (Gary Oldman), the self-appointed despot of a makeshift town of thieves and gunmen. Meanwhile, Carnegie's adopted daughter Solara (Mila Kunis) is fascinated by Eli for another reason: the glimpse he offers of what may exist beyond her stepfather's domain.

I disagree with the previous review. Movie well filmed and acted. The movie is more focused on history and though the book of eli has some religious refferences - it's not passion of the christ or angels and demons... Gary Oldman plays a great role opposite of Denzel. Good Action Drama - worth way more than 2 stars

The movie is filmed really well, and Denzel's performance is good. However, the whole premise of the world endings (kinda) and everything taking place on one road and an old ghostown is narrow sighted. Actually, the whole thing is small minded and stupid. I don't want to give anything away, but it is Christian propaganda wrapped up in a multi-million dollar movie. Ech !!! Also, I normally love Gary Oldman, but he is poorly casted in this movie.

unless you have wisdom and knowledge of God's Revelation and decernment. Its truth and signs given from God what to look for and expect. Not everything is revealed in these books and movies (too much). Read the Bible and give your life to the Father then be shielded with the Blood and that same faith (hope) Eli had that seen him thru will also see us thru.What are you bartering with? has a shyamalan feel (and i do not care for shyamalan)...you want action, you get action; you want meaning, you get myth...a fairly colorful, if senseless flik...ciao.
