Synopsis:
Peter O'Toole gives a knock-out performance as Alan Swann, a booze-loving former matinee idol who is forced into making a live appearance on a variety show to appease the IRS. Mark Linn-Baker plays the fledgling writer for the show who must keep Swann on the sober and narrow.

This movie has a special place in my heart.I watched it with my Father in the early 80's and remember him laughing and enjoying scenes that, at the time, I didn't understand why were so funny.Now, when I watch this movie, I can share in my Father's humor and fully enjoy what will go down in history as one of the most enjoyable and well-acted films in history.Peter O'Toole is magnificent and at his best from beginning to end.A movie the whole family will enjoy.

A perfect comedy. Possibly the best film available at Cinemanow. Peter O'Toole and the entire cast give near-flawless performances.
