Synopsis:
Bette travels to New York for some damage control with Helena Peabody the new administrator of a foundation that provides financial support to the Art Center. However, she gets a rude awakening when Helena announces that she's taking the group's grant money in a different direction. Even a visit to Helena's eccentric mother Peggy Peabody doesn't change the situation. A distraught Bette consoles herself with alcohol and a one-night stand. In desperate need of someone to share the rent burden, Shane and Jenny interview prospective roommates but can't quite find the perfect candidate in the lineup of kooks and basket cases that apply. They finally settle on Mark, a video director who has produced a successful line of voyeuristic DVD's. Kit attends a self-help seminar taught by a charismatic guru, Benjamin Bradshaw. She immediately connects with Bradshaw's teachings and with the instructor himself, who's immediately attracted to Kit and takes her under his wing to help her release her inner animal. After conducting an inventory of her and Bette's possessions, Tina's lawyer Joyce makes an unwelcome pass at her, a situation made more complicated by the fact that Tina is still living in Joyce's guest house. When she calms the nerves of a distraught actress on the set of a new movie, Shane draws the attention of high-powered producer Veronica Bloom, who pressures her to accept a new job as her personal assistant. Shane pushes Jenny to be more aggressive with Carmen. After seeing Shane and her openly gay friends through the eyes of her new roommate Mark, Jenny moves closer to embracing the truth of her sexuality by requesting a sleek (and short) new haircut.
