Great movie for an indie--good twists and foreshadowing. This is an engaging movie with some good performances and excellent photog. In light of the M. Jackson case, the S.B. DA building a bogus case on tainted or non-existent evidence is not so fa fetched (hehe). I have some bias due to living in Santa Barbara and spent time in Tehachapi, Kern, Sierras, etc. and fully enjoyed the location shots.

I'm sorry, I have to knock this turkey down to the bottom.--I would have given it one star, but it has four-star cinematography.--The premise and story line are so horribly implausable, that the movie becomes impossible to watch after the first hour.--People who move from town to town in homeless camps are drug-ridden, lice-infested, unfortunates who are either to dysfunctional, or drug-dependent, to survive in society.--They don't wake up in the morning freshly shaven, in clean clothes--They reek of garbage, urine, and stale beer from their major source of income, hunting returnable bottles.--The home invasion, felony assault, robbery presented as a cool way of financing the romantic trip on the rails was more than I could stand--I shut it off!--They would have had APBs and police choppers looking for them, and would have gotten a minimum of 15 years each.
