Synopsis:

A fresh and kinetic American teenage romance from writer/director Dani Minnick. Set in the San Fernando Valley of the early 1980s, tomboyish Katie Gallagher (Megan Wilson) falls for charismatic bad boy, Boyd (Brian Vaughan). Unfortunately, he just can't stay out of juvie. Their relationship is one of increasing intimacy punctuated by run-ins with the police, and eventually, explosive conflicts. As raw and immediate as the characters of Boyd and Katie are, the heart of the film is the odd mixture of tenderness and tension at the heart of their family lives. The poignant core of the film is made all the more immediate by the cinema vÉritÉ style employed by videographer/editor Alessandro Zezza. FALLING LIKE THIS is a provocative, propulsive drama about the outlaw in us all and the price we pay to live that kind of life.

Tense, distressing, tragic and altogether lovely film. The characters are amazing and you really believe in them. They come alive. The ending is great, showing the helplessness of Boyd, as well as Katie. The vulnerability of these two is real and exciting. A definite must see. I think I've found another favorite movie.
