French cinema has always been one of my favorites. I usually prefer to watch the film in their native language but Chabrol's subtle yet extremely eerie thrillers are a must see even when they're dubbed. I've seen a few of Chabrol's films that usually involve one of the characters losing touch with reality and crossing the thin line between acceptability and denial that often divides them. As nearly always, class status plays an important part in the lives of Chabrol's characters. First 'Why' is seduced into the world of bourgeois entitlement by the female Machiavellian Fr?d?rique, then when she dares to play the game, she inevitably falls short,losing everything that she didn't have in the first place. Chabrol paints 'Why's haunting meltdown over being cast aside from both her female and male lover's fascination with all the quiet ease of a master,much unlike the heavy handedness of usual American cinema.

Good movie. Shows how dangerous is to bring someone from the streets into your home. Dangerous, very dangerous.

it's a movie with passion and betray and love. Overall it's pretty good.
