Synopsis:
It is first light on the 6th of June, 1944, D-Day. On this day, the Allies launched the largest combined land, air and sea operation ever from Souther England to liberate Europe from Hitler and Nazi oppression. Code named Overlord, the entire operation was a tremendous gamble. The element of surprise was paramount and through a tnagle of intrigue, the German high command was led to believe the invasion would occur not at Normandy, but at Calais, only twenty miles from England across the narrow strait of Dover.

This was a thrilling and informative movie on how D DAy was planned. It was well worth the 3 hours and learned more about the sacrifices our americans have endured

Pretty thorough overview of D-day.Learned much more than I thought about the entire Overload operation.Long, so pull up a chair and be ready to sit a spell.

It is a curious thing but when reviewing the war the west, and in particular the US, tend to focus on D-Day and the events that followed; the truth is, that, D-Day, though important, was not pivotal; by June 1944 Germany had lost the war, and she had lost it in Russia, where almost two-thirds of her forces were engaiged. The imortance of D-Day was not in winning the war but ensuring that the that the nations that made up thewestern part of Europe, were not occupied by Stalin and the Russians in their drive west. I would be happier if this, and other docs., did not give the impression that upon D-Day hung the outcome of the war. or

I think this is very good movie because its focus on a lot of things during the D-day and afterwards. Its is three hours of pleasure.
