I purchased Day Watch only because I found Night Watch to be one of the most original movies I had seen in a long time, and I wanted more. That???s probably exactly what happened here ??? everyone wanted more, More, MORE! So, they threw Day Watch together. But it feels contrived and derivative, created only because their audience wanted it and because they knew there was going to be a lot of money in it.Had I stumbled into Day Watch first, I might have loved it, and rated it higher. But, as a follow-up to the wonderfully and darkly original Night Watch, which sets the bar pretty high, it fails.I think they went a bit over the top in their pursuit of more, More, MORE!The humor, for example, actually works in the short term but somehow lessens the overall impact of the film in the viewer's final reckoning. I would have preferred a smarter, more consistently dark, better executed follow-up. Now, is it a good movie? Heavens, YES!I just had high hopes, perhaps unfairly high hopes, and felt a bit let down in the end. As others have indicated in their writings here, you really need to see both films. I think you'll enjoy them both a great deal, but will eventually consider Day Watch to be the weaker of the two offerings.

so you know up fron that the movie is in russian w/english subtitals. if you keep that in mind this is a very well done movie set. I say 'set' because you need to watch "night watch" and "day watch" together to get the whole story. the special effects an 8 on a scale of 1-10. I have seen alot worse come out of hollywood. it isn't a "two towers" or "spider man" but it is at least as good as the "Blade" movies. I am not disapointed, I say watch it and see, However, if you are not into sci-fi/fantasy/ apoctaliptic, then I would suggest you find somthing else to watch.

this was possibly the worst movie i have seen on so many levels.the acting was cheesy, the music scores many times didn't go with the scene, still have no idea who were on the good and bad sides, had to do with a piece of chalk, but you couldn't read what they were writing on the wall as it's in russian, etc.I've never written a bad review, but felt so compelled after i saw it in my hotel while traveling.it's like the director found out how to do some slow motion special effects with a new computer and thought that would work as a movie.dang, it was painful.

The movie is in Russian.I liked it very much, thriller, action, and esoteric rolled into one.Powerful themes and great special effects - even if you have to read the sub-titles, you get used to it.I recommend if you like spiritual thrillers and even action films.12-7-2007 (BEM)

These two movies are very good, all in sub-titles, but if you like a thinking movie with action and suspense, this is it! Really takes paying close attention to appreciate these movies (You really have to watch closly and catch all the story) if you do, the twist and turns in the story are top notch. Great movie! Great director and acting. I emphises the detail of watching because if you don't you will be very lost :) But for the hardcore movie buff, this one is as good as reading a great book :)

Absolutely astonishing.More compelling and mature than the first, the sequel happily wallows in presumably understood lore and expands on it, moving with greasy creepiness toward a supernatural climax that draws everything together in a very satisfying way.I don't see how the Matrix sequels or those dreadful Underworld movies can show their faces at a party where the Watch movies are on the guest list.
