Synopsis:
Tough-as-nails private detective Philip Marlowe (Robert Mitchum) begins his investigation of a blackmail case, he finds himself tangled in a web of mystery and criminal activity. His wealthy but elderly employer is Gen. Sternwood (James Stewart), whose daughters (played by Candy Clark and Sarah Miles) are involved with some shady characters, and soon everyone becomes a suspect. This remake of the 1946 Humphrey Bogart classic takes place in 1970s London.
