Synopsis:
The fastest man on four wheels, Ricky Bobby (WILL FERRELL) is one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. A big, hairy American winning machine, Ricky has everything a dimwitted daredevil could want, a luxurious mansion, a smokin' hot wife (LESLIE BIBB) and all the fast food he can eat. But Ricky's turbo-charged lifestyle hits an unexpected speed bump when he's bested by flamboyant Euro-idiot Jean Girard (SACHA BARON COHEN, TV's "Da Ali G Show") and reduced to a fear-ridden wreck. Losing his wife and job to best bud and fellow fool, Cal Naughton, Jr. (JOHN C. REILLY), Ricky must kick some serious asphalt if he's to get his career back on the track, beat Girard and reclaim his fame and fortune. 'Cause as Ricky Bobby always says, IF YOU AIN'T FIRST, YOU'RE LAST!

CRITIC REVIEWS
Lew Irwin

Critics are marveling at the product-placement tonnage displayed in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The movie "may break new records for product placements per frame," writes A. O. Scott in the New York Times. Steven Rea in the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that it's "a veritable orgy of product placement." Chris Vognar in the Dallas Morning News calls it "a product-placement bonanza." Still, many of the products -- it's a NASCAR movie, remember, and ads arguably rank second only to cars at NASCAR events -- come in for heavy spoofing. And the critics generally are a satisfied crowd. "Will Ferrell does chicken-fried comedy right: with crackpot discipline and stripped-to-the-beer-belly courage," writes Michael Sragow in the Baltimore Sun. Similarly Peter Howell in the Toronto Star writes that Farrell is "absolutely fearless about playing the fool, which he does with no shame or apparent forethought. His enthusiasm is infectious, and it's why parts of the patchy Talladega Nights are very funny." Lisa Kennedy in the Denver Post even calls the movie, "tantalizingly clever." But like several other critics, Kennedy writes that the movie simply doesn't provide enough funny scenes. "Even some very funny scenes, such as one in which Ricky says a prayer before dinner, roll on longer than the Daytona 500," Kyle Smith comments in the New York Post. Still no critic gives the film an out-and-out pan. Writing in the Los Angeles Times, Kenneth Turan observes that it's "a bit of a mess, but it is a genial mess, and one that will make you laugh. Which is the whole idea."

Very silly. Stupid at times. However, kids might like it.

Simply the best comedy of the year.Don't analyze it, don't look for deep intellectual symbology, don't even critique the directing, acting, or political correctness (or lack thereof).Just sit back and laugh your guts out as Ricky "Boobie" and the cast spin there magic.Oscars for everyone.

STUPID. STUPID. STUPID. OK---I wasn't expecting an intelligent movie, just a comedy that had a good story and acting. Considering Will was in it, I thought it had a great shot at meeting the expectation. Bad all around---to the point of being painful. Unless you are stone cold drunk, and have seen everything else---except Idiocracy (which is one small step below this one), save your money.

Honestly..this movie wasnt as funny as everyone said it would be. BUT, it was a good movie. I took it for granted and figured it would be a gut wrenching laugh each frame..but it wasnt. Although, when it was funny..it was very very funny. Farrel has this role down packed and his comedy relief does a fine job backing him up. I wouldnt go as far as saying its the best movie ever made..though it is a matter of opinion. All in all..if you like Will Farrel..you should watch this movie. If you're just gunna watch it based on what other people are saying..then its not really a big deal.
