"He who controls the Spice , controls the Universe." DUNE is probably one of the most out of this world space opera, A classic epic. Frank Herberts sci-fi adventure drama from his best selling novel is so complex, it take one readers imagination and comprehension to absorb it from one page to the next. A simple tale that we can all relate and identify with, but somehow manage to take us in a mesmerizing dreamstate in a world of outer gallactic entity. And that's exactly what DAVID LYNCH did, he brought it to life, dark as it maybe and it's not for everyone, or anybody for that matter who wants to be in but it's a place that's not without it's oun religion., And no one but David Lynch cerebral vision, brought unsettletling fascination and admiration of a world far beyound our own or one's own imagintion to conjure up. As it so happens failed to deliver us the rare human emotion to connect us into their universe, and did notsucceed to be in a class by it's selfor to be the godfather of the SCI-FI genre as Mr.Lynch intended to be. For what I understand the4 hour or so Original Negatives and the 180 mins. or soOriginal Cut of Mr. Lynch's version for the theatrical release was butcherd by Univesal Pics. to 137 mins. It would have been the TITANIC of 1984. But as for me It's one of a rare few movies that I went to see (about 5 times)when it was first released. I saw Star Wars 3 times when it was first released 1977. Mr. Lynch mentioned in an inteview or in a article that I read about him. Thathe's thinking of putting the whole 4 hour vesion of Dune a project he would like to tackle with complete control ,but it would cost as much as when he first filmed it and the nitrate negative reels are lost or marked as mixed reels somewhere in varios andunknown vaults loactions.
